The latest edition of the annual Cursa Popular illa Carlemany fun run, coinciding with this year’s Sports Day for All, will take place on Sunday 14 May. It is the biggest public sporting event in the country, and we’re hoping to match or even surpass the pre-pandemic record of 3,000 participants for the event.
Race over 5 km or 2 km
Once again there will be both a 5 km and a 2 km course. All runners start on Avinguda Consell de la Terra, behind the illa Carlemany shopping centre, at 10:30 am for the longer race and 10:40 am for the shorter one. The starting positions for participants of each race will be organized in the same way as in previous years.
Both routes follow the streets of Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella, to finish in the capital’s Parc Central. The 5 km route is not only longer but also more difficult, given the steeper gradients of the streets it runs through in the upper part of Escaldes-Engordany.
Online registration now open
Online registration is now open until midnight on Monday 1 May. When you register you will be given a race bib and chip, the opportunity to purchase a commemorative T-shirt, and all the necessary information.
In the week before the race, 8–13 May, event stations will be set up in illa Carlemany where the race material can be collected. Anyone still thinking of joining in can also register here in person, although without access to the special offers available with online registration.
Finishing celebrations and gift card raffle
Finishing celebrations will be held in the capital’s Parc Central, starting at approximately 11:30 am. Trophies and gifts will be awarded to the first three places in each category, and all registered participants who finish their race will go into a prize draw to win gift cards from illa Carlemany. There will be fifteen gift cards up for grabs worth € 150 each.
