We’re opening restaurants and cinemas, alongside children’s activities to celebrate Meritxell in Andorra
The festival of Meritxell, which falls on 8 September, marks the end of the summer and the return to normalcy, as school starts the next day.
To celebrate Meritxell, Andorra’s national holiday, the cafés, restaurants and cinemas here at illa Carlemany will all be open, and we’ll be offering children’s activities with the characters of the Piolet Club: Piolet, Violet and Andi.
For the day of Meritxell, illa Carlemany will be open
Enjoy our restaurants and cinemas
While the shops will be closed on the day of Meritxell, illa Carlemany, Andorra’s centre, will be opening the cafés, restaurants and cinemas to the public during normal business hours. You can start your day with breakfast at MyCorner, Dehesa Santamaría or Starbucks. Later, for lunch, choose between Bistrot, Roma and Foster’s Hollywood, and round off the day with a film session at Cinemes illa.
The Meritxell holiday for kids
Morning with arts and crafts workshops and the characters of the Piolet Club
For children, the day begins at 10 am with arts and crafts workshops and face painting, until Piolet, Violeta and Andi arrive. The three will be there to greet the kids and share some time with them. The youngest members of the family will be able to take a photo with them as a souvenir. Later, at 12, they will be performing their show.
Celebrate Meritxell with illa Carlemany and the characters of the Club Piolet, and enjoy a fun and entertaining summer’s end. Once again, illa Carlemany is Andorra’s centre!
