This coming Sunday, 15 May, the illa Carlemany community race, the Cursa Popular, will finally be held again, after two years of suspension due to the pandemic when other activities were held in its place. This year, the race is back in its original format, with two circuits: one 2 kilometres long; and the other 5 kilometres long. Both will be leaving from the area of the shopping centre. Participants are sure to enjoy the humanitarian t-shirts, gifts for those who sign up online, illa Carlemany gift certificate raffles, and needless to say, all the excitement of Sports Day for Everyone!
All this week including Saturday, those who sign up online are invited to stop in on the ground floor of illa Carlemany, Andorra’s Centre, to pick up their race numbers and t-shirts. There, they’ll also receive a backpack and a gift with the logo of Andorra’s 2027 candidacy.
The illa Carlemany community race forms part of the Sports Day for Everyone events, which are promoted by the Government of Andorra to raise awareness among the local people regarding the importance of practicing sport and following a healthy diet. Now in its eleventh edition and launched thirteen years ago, this initiative boasts the most widespread participation of all the community sporting events, with nearly three thousand sign-ups.
The Cursa Popular is back this year to show people that if we want to be healthy it’s important to move our bodies, as clearly stated on the event’s t-shirt.
There’s still time to sign up! All this week until Saturday, registration will be open at the race stations on the ground floor of the shopping centre.
