The good weather is already here and in just a few weeks we’ll be celebrating the summer solstice, the official start of the sun and swimming season. That’s when we’ll see whether the physical exercise we’ve been getting at Next –the fitness centre on floor 2– and the careful diet we’ve been following have paid off, among other things, allowing us to show off our bodies in an eye-catching swimsuit from the Tezenis shop, on floor 0 of the shopping centre.
Beyond the aesthetic reasons, exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet definitely improves our wellbeing. And so does the sun, which, if enjoyed appropriately and sensibly, can improve our mood, strengthen our bones and prevent osteoporosis, keep our blood pressure at bay, activate our immune system, regulate our biorhythms and improve our skin conditions. This means that getting some sun is good, yet getting too much is harmful. Hence, being exposed to the sun during the middle of the day –between 12 noon and 4 pm– without any sort of protection or simply for too long, can take its toll, leading to premature skin aging, eye damage and skin cancer, for example.
It’s important not to punish your skin. Be sure to use a good sunscreen and a moisturiser afterwards, which will help prevent your skin from drying out. You’ll find people who know all about this at the Galeno Farmacy in illa Carlemany or at Júlia, the cosmetics shop on the shopping centre’s ground floor. There, they will offer you sound advice, along with the best products. The same goes for the Franck Provost hairdressing salon and Centres Ideal, both of which are located on floor 2, to prepare your hair and skin for the inevitable wear and tear caused not only by the sun, but also by the salt or chlorine in the swimming pool.
