Let’s take care of our Mother Earth. This Wednesday, April 22, coinciding with International Mother Earth Day, illa Carlemany marks the occasion with children’s activities and an exhibition designed to raise awareness about the need to act now to protect the planet.
The oceans are filling with plastic, sea acidity is increasing, and extreme phenomena such as heatwaves, wildfires, and floods are affecting millions of people around the world. Climate change and human impact —deforestation, intensive land use, intensive livestock farming and agriculture, as well as illegal wildlife trade— are accelerating the degradation of the Earth. In this context, Illa Carlemany aims to actively contribute to preserving the environment, reconnecting with nature, and mobilizing citizens to reduce their impact on the planet.
The natural treasure we have: the Madriu Valley.
The Madriu Valley is much more than an exceptional natural area of Andorra. It is also a unique cultural landscape, shaped over time by human activity, which managed to transform the territory to ensure survival and development, always with a deep respect for the rhythms of nature.
With this perspective, from April 22 to May 3, on the ground floor of illa Carlemany, visitors will be able to see the exhibition “The Iron Heritage of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley.” This exhibition invites visitors to discover how ironworking was part of a delicate balance between human activity and the natural environment, highlighting the example of past generations who successfully combined progress and respect for nature.
Children’s activities to celebrate Earth Day in Andorra.
Aware that environmental education is key for future generations, illa Carlemany, in collaboration with Club Piolet, presents the story “The Girl Who Smelled the Earth.” This children’s activity will take place on the ground floor of the shopping center on Wednesday the 22nd at 5:30 p.m., featuring Andi and Piolet as the main characters.
At the same time, a participatory space will be set up so that children, young people, and adults can write or draw their message to help safeguard the Earth. A proposal to share reflections, emotions, and commitments in favor of the planet.
illa Carlemany’s measures for a more sustainable future.
At illa Carlemany, we are aware that preserving the planet is a shared responsibility. For this reason, the shopping center promotes various measures focused on sustainability, recycling, energy saving, and renewable energy.
These initiatives include the use of low-consumption lighting, limiting lighting to what is strictly necessary, installing solar panels on the building’s roof, controlling the temperature of the facilities, promoting and practicing recycling, as well as providing charging points for electric vehicles. Every action counts in addressing the major environmental challenge we face.
