On 17 July 2009, illa Carlemany first opened its doors to the public. That’s 12 years ago this week. Over this time, illa Carlemany has become the centre of Andorra, not just as the only major shopping centre of its kind in the Principality or because of its fantastic location in the country’s commercial hub, but also because it has become part of the daily life of people who live here and is a must-visit for everyone who chooses Andorra as a shopping destination.
Over the past 12 years we have seen it all. From the global economic crisis that began in 2007 to the Covid-19 pandemic that has paralysed the world. But we have also experienced successes, hosted unique, daring and different events, as well as artists and renowned figures from the worlds of literature, sport, and cuisine.
Almost 66 million visitors have passed through the doors of illa Carlemany, and the centre of Andorra has become an important landmark. Since opening, illa Carlemany has been continually expanding the services it provides for visitors and renewing its commercial, recreational and gastronomic offering. Indeed, the shopping centre has become a space with a life of its own, it has organized all kinds of activities, it has become part of life in the Principality, and has made commitments to the sporting, cultural, and other major events and challenges in which the country is engaged.
With pride for what has been achieved so far, illa Carlemany faces the present and the future with an absolute desire to continue being the centre for everyone.
Happy anniversary this year, and for many more years to come!
